In for a Penny

Wow. I have to say, I'm kinda liking the fact that I created this account on Halloween, and am whomping up a first post on what I think is New Year's Day for some folks. So, cool.

I created this account, honestly, so I could finally start replying to postings by a LJer I've long read and admired. It took me an unconscionably long time to belly up to this, in part because I didn't wanna just be a punk with an empty journal, but also because I didn't want to end up being a punk with a stupid journal. Those hordes thunder just fine without me, thanks.

I think it's hard for an editor to be a writer, especially when they want to be as careful with/about words as I do. Then too, throwing stuff out into the ether like this can be far more permanent than anyone wants to think, and I don't want to look back on shit I put out there and cringe.

So. Maybe I'll join yet another thundering horde, start out complaining about petty shit that bugs me, the pinches of sand in my shorts that might inspire more chuckles than howls of despair, then move on to the fistfuls. Or maybe I'll wander off after the next Shiny Thing. I hope not, though. I tend to do more observing than participating, and maybe this can help me work toward a better balance on that. The snark, though--I don't expect there'll be much balance where that's concerned. : )
